In this article, we'll introduce you to some of the best aquariums in Tokyo. (Information as of July 2019)

Sunshine Aquarium

The Sunshine Aquarium is located on the roof of the Sunshine Building in Ikebukuro. The exhibition area is divided into an indoor area called "Travel in the Ocean" and "Travel by the Water" and an outdoor area called "Travel in the Sky". The highlight is the outdoor area. You can see the penguins as if they were swimming in the sky. It is an aquarium that can be enjoyed by children and adults with a full range of performances such as sea lions and penguins.

Shinaigawa Aquarium

The Shinagawa Aquarium, popularly known as "Shinamizu," is an aquarium located in the Shinagawa Ward Residents' Park. In addition to exhibits designed to make visitors feel more familiar with underwater creatures, the aquarium entertains visitors with shows featuring dolphins, seals, and sea lions. At the floating restaurant in the building, the "Jumping Dolphin Parfait", a dolphin-shaped pie is something you and your children will fall in love with.

Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa

Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa attracts visitors with its cutting-edge performances that make full use of sound, lights, and images. The aquarium bears the name of Maxell Holdings, which is engaged in a wide range of businesses, including optics and audio. The aquarium offers an unprecedented visual experience for visitors to interact with the underwater creatures. The dolphin show "Dolphin Performance" with beautiful lighting and music is a must-see.

Sumida Aquarium

Sumida Aquarium is a completely indoor aquarium located in Tokyo Skytree. The keyword of the aquarium is "The closer you get, the more you like it", and it has devised exhibits that allow visitors to feel closer to living creatures, and there is no route to follow so you can freely observe the exhibits from any point. There are many unique exhibits, such as Magellanic Penguins living in one of the largest indoor pool-type tanks in Japan, and the "Edoarium" - colorful goldfish.

Tokyo Sea Life Park (Kasai Rinkai Aquarium)

Tokyo Sea Life Park, located in Kasai Rinkai Park, is a facility operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Because of this, the admission fee is more reasonable than other aquariums, but there are still many greats exhibits. In the zone named "Ocean Voyagers", you can see sharks and countless herds of sardines swimming around. There is an area with creatures from the world's oceans and another area where you can observe the ecosystem of penguins. This place is highly recommended to those who want to take a closer look at marine life.
