Enjoy Sightseeing in Tokyo even on a Rainy Day!

You've come all this way to visit Tokyo, but unfortunately, the rain has ruined your mood. Even in this situation, there are many sightseeing spots you can enjoy. In this article, we'll introduce some of our favorite Tokyo sightseeing spots that you can enjoy even on a rainy day.  (Information as of May 2017)

Tokyo Solamachi

Tokyo Solamachi is a commercial facility attached to Tokyo Skytree. It is lined with popular fashion brand shops, famous restaurants, souvenir shops, and more, where you can enjoy shopping and dining. In addition, there is an aquarium and a planetarium in Tokyo Skytree Town, making it possible to have fun for a whole day.

    Keisei Oshiage Line, Toei Subway Asakusa Line, Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line "Oshiage (Skytree)" Station

Maxell Aqua Park

Maxell Aqua Park is an entertainment facility centered around an aquarium located in the Shinagawa Prince Hotel. At "The Stadium", a 25-meter diameter circular pool, you can see powerful performances such as dolphin shows and mini-performances by penguins and fur seals. Other attractions include a 20-meter-long underwater tunnel and the Aqua Jungle, home to adorable capybaras.

Access: 2 minutes walk from JR, Keikyu Line "Shinagawa Station" (Takanawa Exit)
Business hours: 10:00 - 22:00 (admission until 21:00)
 

First Avenue Tokyo Station

First Avenue Tokyo Station is a commercial facility directly connected to the Yaesu Exit of Tokyo Station. "Tokyo Okashi Land" is made up of the three major confectionary manufacturers, "Tokyo Character Street" is a collection of official shops of TV stations and popular characters, and "Tokyo Ramen Street" is a collection of famous ramen shops in Tokyo. There are plenty of shops that everyone from children to adults can enjoy.

Tokyo Dome City Attractions

The urban amusement facility, Tokyo Dome City Attractions. The Thunder Dolphin, a roller coaster that climbs a steep 45-degree gradient to a height of 80 meters, is a thrilling experience that can only be experienced in Dome City. In addition, there are many indoor attractions such as a 3D night cruise in the Geopolis Zone, so you can enjoy it even if it rains.

Tokyo Joypolis

Tokyo Joypolis is the largest indoor theme park in Japan, located in Odaiba, Tokyo. There are 20 different attractions, including screamers and those that make full use of the latest computer graphics, with the most popular being "Half Pipe Tokyo". This attraction is based on the image of a skateboard, with a standing board that moves left and right like a pendulum, and pedals under your feet that control the number of rotations and points. It is very popular because you can feel the speed and thrill, and you might see a long line even on weekdays. If you want to try it, be prepared to wait in line!

             a 5-minute walk from Tokyo Teleport Station on the Rinkai Line

National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation

The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation is a national science museum that opened in 2001. It has many exhibits for learning science in a fun way, such as a permanent exhibition and a dome theater that explore the mysteries of the universe and life. In the Dome Theater, realistic images of the universe are shown for about 30 minutes each time. Don't forget to make a reservation in advance, as there is a complete changeover system!

Access: 4 minutes walk from Telecom Center Station on the Yurikamome Line
             5 minutes walk from Fune-no-Kagakukan.     
            15 minutes walk from Tokyo Teleport Station on the Rinkai Line

Opening hours: 10:00 - 17:00  (admission tickets can be purchased until 30 minutes before closing)
