Make the most of trains and buses! Convenient means of transportation for sightseeing in Yokohama

As a tourist destination, Yokohama attracts many visitors and offers a variety of transportation for tourists. If you use these "tools" effectively, you can tour Yokohama just in one day. In this article, we will introduce you to some of the most convenient ways to get around Yokohama.

Tour bus "Akaikutsu" (Red shoes)

The Akaikutsu is a round-trip bus known for its retro and cute red body that runs through the streets of Yokohama.

There are two routes that are operated daily. The "Minato Mirai Route" (M Route) starts from Sakuragicho station square, Anpanman museum entrance, Shin Takashima station square, Marinos town square, exhibition hall Pacifico Yokohama, Kokusaibashi / Cup noodle museum square, Red Brick Warehouse, Bankokubashi / World Porters square, Yokohama No. 2 Joint Government Office Building, the last stop is is Bashamichi station and after that bus returns to Sakuragicho station.

Another "Chinatown/Motomachi Route" (Route C) takes you from Sakuragicho Station to the Red Brick Warehouse, then to the New Prefectural Office (Yokohama Three Towers), Chinatown (Choyo-mon Gate), Motomachi Entrance, Minato-no-Mieru-Oka Park, Marine Tower, Yamashita Park, Osanbashi (Entrance), Osanbashi Passenger Boat Terminal, then goes to Red Brick Warehouse, and back to Sakuragicho Station. It is a great way to see almost all the major tourist spots, and the fare is only 100 yen for adults and 50 yen for children.
 

Regular sightseeing bus "Yokohama Bayside Line"

Speaking of regular sightseeing buses in Yokohama, this Yokohama Bayside Line is probably the most famous. There are three types of basic courses: morning, afternoon, and night view courses.
For example, the afternoon course called "Port Opening Story" allows you to see and learn about the history of the opening of the Yokohama port, including Sankeien Garden, Yokohama Marine Tower, Red Brick Warehouse, and costs 2,900 yen for adults and 1,250 yen for children.

There is also an option to enjoy dinner at a famous restaurant in Chinatown or at Sirius on the 70th floor of the Yokohama Royal Park Hotel. The Night View Course is also available only on Saturdays and takes you to classic night view spots such as the Red Brick Warehouse and the Yokohama Bay Bridge. This course allows you to see a variety of night views and is also recommended for dates. The fee is 1,950 yen for adults and 1,200 yen for children. Choose the course that best suits your schedule for the day.

"Sea bus" to enjoy the port town from the sea

The most famous water bus available in Yokohama is the Sea Bus operated by Port Service Co. The Sea Bus runs from the east exit of Yokohama Station to Minato Mirai 21, the Red Brick Warehouse, and Yamashita Park, allowing you to see the sights of Yokohama from just above sea level. In addition to the regular seating, there is also a rear deck where you can feel the wind and spray of the waves, making it a great place to take commemorative photos.

The fare is reasonable: 700 yen for adults and 350 yen for children if you use the service from Yokohama Station East Exit to Yamashita Park. If you want a more luxurious cruising experience, there are also lunch and dinner included cruises that you can enjoy on passenger ships named Marine Rouge and Marine Shuttle, also conducted by Port Service.
 

Use the "1DAY ticket" for trains and buses wisely

When sightseeing in Yokohama, make good use of a ticket that allows unlimited rides on trains and buses for a day.

This ticket is a combination of a "free section one-day pass" that allows you to get on and off trains and buses freely, and a "Keikyu round-trip discount ticket. You can get on and off freely on all lines of the Minatomirai Line, the Keikyu Line from Yokohama to Kamiooka, the Yokohama Municipal Subway Line from Yokohama to Kamiooka (no getting on or off at Bantobashi, Yoshinomachi, Makita, or Gumyoji stations), and the designated routes of the Yokohama Municipal Bus, including the Aka-Ku. Fares vary depending on the originating station, so be sure to check in advance.

 
Minato Burari Ticket 
Minato Burari Ticket is a ticket that can be used from Yokohama Station to the Bayside Area. The ticket is valid from Yokohama Station to Isezaki-Chojamachi Station on the Yokohama Municipal Subway Blue Line, from Yokohama Station to Motomachi/Minato-no-Mieru-Oka-Koen on the city bus (general route), and on the Akaikutsu bus. The fare is 500 yen for adults and 250 yen for children. There is also the Minato Burari Ticket Wide, which allows you to get on and off at Shin-Yokohama Station, a Shinkansen stop, for an additional 50 yen for adults and 30 yen for children. Yokohama City Transportation Bureau's One-Day Bus Ticket and One-Day Subway Ticket 
The one-day bus ticket issued by the Yokohama City Transportation Bureau applies to all municipal bus routes and round-trip Akaikutsu buses. It costs 600 yen for adults and 300 yen for children.

 
The subway one-day pass is available for all city subway lines and costs 740 yen for adults and 370 yen for children. There is also a combined bus and subway one-day pass available for 830 yen for adults and 420 yen for children.
