Hibiya Park was home to the residences of feudal lords, including Matsudaira Hizen no Mamoru, until the end of the Edo period, and was used as an army training camp in the Meiji era. Later, in urban planning, the park was created as Japan's first “Western-style modern park. The flowerbeds are filled with seasonal flowers and provide a place of relaxation for people working in the office district. At Ungata Pond, where the “Crane Fountain,” the symbol of Hibiya Park, is located, the surrounding trees turn into brilliant reds and oranges as the leaves change colors. The rows of ginkgo trees, which turn even more beautifully golden in the autumn sunlight, are also not to be missed.
