No worries even in the rain! Six recommended sightseeing spots in Osaka that can be enjoyed indoors

The weather on a day out is forecast to rain. On such a day, I would like to spend time at an indoor tourist spot.
This time we will introduce some sightseeing spots in Osaka that can be enjoyed indoors, regardless of the weather.
■ KAIYUKAN

An aquarium is the perfect spot for a rainy day outing. Kaiyukan is an aquarium where you can encounter a variety of sea and land creatures, with approximately 620 species and 30,000 plants and animals on display.
There are various exhibits such as the Aqua Gate and the Kaiyukan Galaxy, but the most famous exhibit is the Pacific Ocean tank where whale sharks swim.In the "New Experience Area," visitors can experience the real world where living creatures live and experience the importance of nature through exhibits that recreate what is beneath the ice floes, the sound of seals scraping the ice, and the sounds and smells of penguins jumping around on the rocks.
Every evening from 5:00 p.m., the aquarium becomes "Kaiyukan by Night," and visitors can enjoy a romantic "night sea" with lights and sounds. It is recommended to spend a quiet and relaxing time in this fantastic aquarium, which is different from the daytime.

■ Namba Grand kagetsu

When you come to Osaka, you must see authentic "comedy". Namba Grand Kagetsu is a theater where Yoshimoto comedians, from the best to the youngest, appear and where you can enjoy manzai and rakugo up close and personal. One of the main attractions of the theater is the Yoshimoto Shinki Gekijou, where you can enjoy the charm of a "live stage performance" with ad-libs.
The theater also has a wide variety of stores selling limited-edition products, official Yoshimoto Kogyo goods, Kansai sweets and sundries, and more.
The theater is also a great place to find unique Osaka souvenirs, as you can enjoy shopping even if you do not have a ticket for the performance.

Address: 11-6 Sennichimae, Namba, Chuo-ku, Osaka-shi,Osaka
Access: A 4 minute walk from Exit 3 of "Namba Station" on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line

■ OSAKA HARUKAS

OSAKA HARUKAS is the tallest* skyscraper complex in Japan, standing 300 meters above ground. It houses a variety of facilities, including department stores, restaurants, museums, offices, and hotels. From the observation deck "Harukas 300" on the top floor, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the Osaka Plain and other vast landscapes. The 360-degree corridor, which is made of glass from the floor to the ceiling, offers the sensation of walking in midair.
The museum is directly connected to Kintetsu Osaka Abenobashi Station and Tennoji Station, and visitors can spend the entire day there while enjoying lunch, sweets, and other gourmet treats.

■ Osaka Municipal Museum of Housing Osaka Museum of Living Now and Then

This is a museum specializing in history with the theme of "housing," where visitors can learn about the history of "lifestyle" and "urban development" in Osaka, which prospered as "the nation's kitchen.
The museum's elaborate models of the streets of the Edo period, the lifestyle of the Meiji and Showa periods, and the history of postwar reconstruction are all worth seeing.
The tools and furnishings of daily life have been faithfully reproduced in great detail, allowing visitors to enjoy a "hands-on" exhibition that feels like a time travel experience.
It is a great place to reminisce about the good old days with family and friends. The all-weather museum is perfect for a rainy day out.

Kids Plaza Osaka, a museum for children where they can play and learn, is a hands-on museum designed to help children learn through play and experience, nurture their creativity, and develop their potential and individuality.
In the spacious museum from the first to the fifth floor, there are many programs such as participatory exhibits and workshops where children can actually use their bodies to the fullest in order to play with themes such as science, culture, and society. For example, there are programs such as a newscaster experience, a wheelchair experience, bubbles that people can put in, and much more.

Kuromon Ichiba is a shopping street in Osaka's Minami district and is known as "Osaka's Kitchen." It celebrated its 200th anniversary on November 18th, 2022. Although not indoors, it is a covered shopping street and is safe even on rainy days. About 150 stores are lined up under the 580-meter-long arcade, which is always crowded with people from all over the country as well as tourists from overseas.
The specialty of the market is hamo (yellowtail) in summer and fugu (blowfish) in winter, but there are also specialty stores specializing in suppon, restaurants, produce, meat, dry foods, Japanese and Western confectionery, and many other types of stores.
