Roppongi is lined with many fashionable boutiques and restaurants, and is famous as one of Tokyo's busiest districts. Every day, the area is bustling with many tourists from all over the world. In this article, we'll introduce some of the best sightseeing spots in Roppongi. (Information as of April 2017)

Roppongi Hills

A beloved Tokyo landmark, Roppongi Hills is one of the most popular commercial complexes in Japan. With a variety of shops ranging from interior design shops to luxury boutiques, the complex attracts lots of visitors. There is a movie theater with a giant screen and an observation deck located 250 meters above sea level called Tokyo City View, and the Mori Art Museum, which mainly exhibits contemporary art, and other cultural facilities. This place is perfect for anyone from children to adults!


In addition, the Roppongi Hills Arena in the central plaza hosts a variety of events throughout the year, giving visitors a chance to experience Tokyo at its best.

Tokyo City View

Tokyo City View is an observation deck located on the 52nd floor of Roppongi Hills. From the indoor observatory, you can see Tokyo's famous landmarks such as the Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Skytree, and Rainbow Bridge, and on a clear day, you can also see Mount Fuji and Chiba's Boso Peninsula. On the rooftop, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Tokyo from the Sky Deck, where you can enjoy a great panorama.

Tokyo Midtown

Opened in 2007, Tokyo Midtown is a new type of complex that includes numerous shops, restaurants, museums, medical facilities, and green spaces. The cherry blossoms are lit up in the spring and illuminations are held in the winter, allowing visitors to enjoy the changing of the seasons.

The National Art Center

The National Art Center in Tokyo is the fifth national art museum to be built in Japan. The building, designed by architect Kisho Kurokawa, has an impressive curved exterior. The museum's exhibition space, one of the largest in Japan, and has a large number of artworks, exhibitions from Japan and abroad.

Suntory Museum of Art

Located in Tokyo Midtown, the Suntory Museum of Art has a collection of about 3,000 items including national treasures and important cultural assets. The museum has a cafe where you can taste Japanese food and sweets.


In addition, the Suntory Museum of Art holds a variety of events, some of which are hands-on events that children can enjoy, making it a great place for families.

Mori Garden

The Mori Garden in Roppongi Hills is a vast 4,300-square-meter Japanese garden. It is well known as an oasis in the city. The garden is home to a wide variety of trees, plants, and flowers, and its beauty can be appreciated in every season.

Izumo Taisha Tokyo Shrine

The Izumo Taisha Tokyo Shrine is the only shrine in Tokyo that enshrines a branch of the Izumo Taisha Shrine in Shimane Prefecture. Many people come here to worship and pray to Okuninushi no Kami, a famous god of marriage.
